Road to the French Grand Canyon

We loved just exploring the country side of France.
My husband (the nature lover) wanted to see the French Grand Canyon du Verdon; so we hopped in the little Peugeot and off we went. There were tree lined roads, lavender fields, windy narrow roads, and beautiful little villages. We sat under the awning having lunch. There was a stop at a lavender shop by the lavender field for some lovely soap. Arriving at the beginning of the canyon there was a lake the most vibrant color of blue I had ever seen. The pictures don't do it justice, but please click on the collage to get a better view.

  1. Beautiful collage! Tell me about the picture that looks like it has wooden giraffes in it... and oh my... the drop off that one road looks wild, glad there was a strong wall to edge the road!

  2. Your trip sounds so wonderful and the scenery certainly was. I love lavender scented soap - what a perfect little luxury to bring home.

  3. Nancy,

I am not sure why the giraffe's were there, very curious. The little stream and waterfall went right through the village where we had lunch and I could resist photographing those giraffe's.

  5. That narrow road hugging the edge of a cliff makes me think James Bond will speed by in a convertible any moment! These photos are just lovely. I hope you are planning a special scrapbook or something for them!

  6. Angela,
I have put a couple hundred pictures into an album and one of these days will put all the pictures onto some DVD's, a slide show with music.

  9. There is nothing like a reference to the Grand Canyon to get my attention. What a gorgeous place, Marilyn. So different from ours but with a truly Grand beauty all its own. I would love to see more of just the canyon itself. It is amazing how a difference in latitude and climate has made two such distinct Grand Canyons.

Lucky you, imagine a field of lavender!!! You could start a new line for your company, and name it Canyon du Verdon. xo
