Greenhouse Update

OK indulge me, it's time for an update on "the greenhouse".
My husband, yes the one sitting there in the greenhouse, decided he wanted to build a greenhouse from recycled material in our backyard.  He started it about four or five years ago.  We were hopeful this would be the year it would be finished.  It won't be this year because he still needs to find more windows and now he will have rotator cuff surgery next week.  So the challenge was to finish the floor with recycled bricks before the surgery.  It was finished this week and he immediately set up the tea table to celebrate.  Celebrating the small things is so important, don't you think?
So we celebrated by sharing tea in the greenhouse this week.
I know there will be other celebrations in the greenhouse, but for today it was a small step.

  3. Your greenhouse is so charming! I love it --- all made from old paned windows. I keep "finding" them on excursions here on the other side of the mountains. Are they easy to find where you are? Although your greenhouse may not be ready for plants, it is the perfect tea room!

PS: Best wishes for a helpful surgery and quick recovery for your hubby.

  4. It's looking great!! The foundation is done, the floors are done, the doors are done, the windows are partly done. You are nearly there!!! Good reason to celebrate with some tea!
Best wishes for a fast recovery to your DH.
To answer your question, no I am not currently in the northwest. But I was born in the PNW and I have family there that I visit every year.

  7. Oh yes, this is JUST the teahouse/writing cottage design I want! I'm only at the *investigating* stage, on the lookout for discarded windows, etc. This looks fabulous! (And here's hoping for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for your DH!)

  9. What a lovely tea for two in your greenhouse? I just love the doors and can picture all the beautiful plants you will be growing in there. Wish I lived closer so that I could give you some of the old windows I have in my shed just waiting for such a project. So wonderful that you are trying to use recycled materials. Now you have inspired me to make a little greenhouse here. I am sure my DH will be "excited" to hear that!
He recently told me that I was "a project waiting to happen."

Hope your hubby's surgery goes well and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Enjoy your tea parties in the "green" house.

  10. what a beautiful greenhouse. My father built one from recycled windows etc, when the house sold I really wished it could have been moved. Too fragile from age.
