I've been thinking alot lately and frustrated with myself.
I love creating and making things and yet I don't always do those things that make me happy.
I love gathering the materials together to create, but often that is as far as it goes.
It drives me crazy sometimes.
Then this week in my thoughts on this I realized what I really love is the dreaming and
anticipation of the project. Knowing that there are the supplies just sitting there waiting
for me to create brings me JOY.
Do you love to dream and anticipate beautiful creations?
What makes your heart sing with JOY?
Am I the only crazy lady that receives JOY from the anticipation?

ReplyDeleteThere's great joy in planning, dreaming, etc. What frustrates me when I do create is that many times it doesn't turn out like how I planned it in my head. By the way Norm is coming home Saturday...
ReplyDeleteOh, I do the same thing! But I find such pleasure in anticipation and planning. Perhaps one of these days I'll actually DO one of my many dreamed-of projects.

I know what you mean! My craft room is full of projects waiting to happen! I too though, suffer from "why didn't it turn out the way it did in my head!"
ReplyDeleteI saw a little yellow and white travel trailer on a lot on Main Street yesterday that made my heart sing. When I went back today to look at it it was gone. It was fun thinking about anyway. Maybe next time.

still gives me pleasure....
I am thinking this may be why I have acquired a "fabric library" at my house. I have enough fabric to make quilts for the neighborhood. There is much excitement and joy in selecting just the right pattern and combination of fabrics. It is time to complete one of the quilts!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great topic, Marilyn! Your basket full or stamps is a treat to see. And I know what you mean too. A great part of any path to creativity is the anticipation, the gathering in of supplies... and just letting the mind wander all the possibilities. I work on different things all the time, which I find fuels more creativity. At the moment I'm taking tender forays back into drawing & painting again...That is JOY right now! Happy Weekend ((HUGS))

ReplyDeleteOur pastor spoke about anticipation one Sunday...and how it's good to have that. As a family, we were getting ready for a short, mini vacation...when all of a sudden our then, 8 year old, looked really sad...we asked him what was wrong...he said, "Well, I started thinking about our vacation and getting excited...then I started thinking about having to come home and got sad.!" ha... Anticipation is great...making me think of Carly Simon's song here! Donna
ReplyDeleteMakes sense to me. I guess thats why I buy fabric and then don't sew it, or why I have big plans for my other crafting supplies that are packed away. I find joy in the planning - making little sketches of my ideas or looking for the perfect supplies.
