Through the Window



Windows

There is a house I daily pass
With finger marks on the window glass.

(Shadows of moments happily whiled
Away in the sun by a little child.)

The wide beveled panes next door to it are
Curtained and free of blemish, or scar.

If choice were given to any, who
Would waver a moment between the two?

For as fast as it's smudged, a mother then
May clean a glass til it shines again.

But none may burnish to brighter glints
Panes never soiled by small hand prints.

    Your tree is gorgeous! I know because I sat beside it just a few days ago! When I pulled up in front of your house and saw your tree through the window I could hardly wait to see it upclose. It's wonderful!

    A beautiful poem which gives one much to think about. I would take the tiny finger streaks any day! I think the verse applies not only to children, but our pets. The outside of my sliding door is so hard to keep clean! There are schnauzer nose prints in a streaked line at nose height!

    Beautiful tree! I believe in Christmas! May it bring you much joy.

    I just love looking at Christmas trees through windows! There's an building near us with three floors and bay windows - and on each floor in the window is a beautiful tree.
