My mom's teapot has sat on my shelf for the past 8 years.
I am not sure where it came from or who gave it to her.
I don't think she would have purchased it,
as she was very frugal.
I do remember her pouring hot water from it
and serving Lipton black tea.
I have loved having it,
but it is time to move on.
My nephews bride loves tea and I know they will treasure
grandma's teapot as I have loved it.
Mom's teapot will soon make a journey to the next generation.
Do you have family treasures that you will one day pass onto the next generation?
I am quite healthy, but have many teapots.
I wanted someone in the family to have the teapot that I knew would treasure it as I have.
How special Marilyn...I'm sure she will treasure it as well..especially from coming from you!

Many years ago I had a set of dishes in a similar pattern, it had a soft green band around the plates, and it was called Hereford. I loved it. I'm sure your nephew and his bride will love having this. I have several pieces of china that were my Mothers, sherry glasses too, and I always think of her when we use them.

Marilyn, Knowing how much you love tea and heirlooms, this is indeed a most precious gift.
ReplyDeleteYour mother's teapot is gorgeous and it will be a treasured gift, I'm sure. What a sweet thing to pass on to the next dear ones who will enjoy using it for many years to come.

Marilyn, I've passed my silver on to my daughters, not is anticipation of departure or disaster, but because they are of an age where it will be used as it should. I am new to your blog and have spent some time browsing through your earlier entries. I really enjoyed my visit. You've created a lovely spot for your readers and I'll definitely be back. I hope you have a wonderful weeekend. Give that kitten a squeeze for me. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI passed along a quilt my Grandma had made me when I was about 10 to my Granddaughter Lily. She may not truly appreciate it now, but she will when she's older, and her Mom appreciates it now!
ReplyDeleteI love that you've passed it on to the next generation. I have my Grandmother's cookie jar, that my parents bought her 66 years ago. It will go to one of my grand daughters if they want it. No one else in my family wanted to take it, but I always loved it.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that whoever has this teapot will treasure it.
ReplyDeleteI have the teapot that my great-grand-father who I never met used all the time.
My Dad saw his grand-father using it eveyday in the afternoon, it was ritual.
He kept it all his life and now it has passed to me, and it is a way of keeping those we have lost alive not only in our hearts but in our everyday life.
I think of using the teapot more often, so it will be meaningful as well to the next generation.

How generous to share such a precious family heirloom with a new bride - hope she will treasure it as you have Marilyn! Your mother picked, or was gifted with, such a pretty teapot.
ReplyDeletei have several beloved pieces of china that were both my grandmother's and mother's - they will be kept until the time arrives for passing them along. Oh gosh, I don't even want to think of that day!
Seems the perfect thing to pass along. So much history in a family teapot. It looks to be a well loved. My Great-Grandma gave me her sugar bowl. I remember well her hands crippled up with RA. It is creamy white and had cherries on it. It even has a small chip from Great-Grandpas tapping his spoon into the bowl. I cherish it and that it sat in the middle of their kitchen table over many cups of tea. I really enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteHi sweet friend...Happy cake making day...please send me a photo of it our put one on your blog...I would love to post about them.
ReplyDeleteThanks my friend...I have not started mine yet...off to the kitchen now. xoxox
Your Mom's teapot is truly beautiful and a treasure for the next generation.
ReplyDeleteThe closest I can come is my cousins and their kids. Rick's boys never knew my parents and I'm an only child, so the cousin kids will get the photos, the things related to the family. What I feel really bad about is my dad's side, because there are no younger people -- he was an only child, too. It saddens me that the things related to Dad and his family have no logical home...
ReplyDeleteThat teapot is a beauty! Wow, and how lovely of you to share it, to pass it along to the next!
ReplyDeleteMy mother gave me a cake knife that had belonged to my father's mother. It was the knife we used at every birthday party, and now I use to cut all our cakes. Every time I use it, I am reminded of all the birthdays, all the celebrations of life that came before. And I am so happy!
How wonderful of you to give that gift to another!
This is so sweet, Marilyn, passing on this teapot now to your nephew & his wife. I'm a big believer in sharing now, not waiting until death to pass things on. Dear Husband & I don't have children, but I have a few ideas of things to pass on to your nieces & nephews when the get a bit older. :o) Lovely post, Marilyn... Happy Valentine's Day ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous indeed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure
That is a beautiful teapot (love the shape), and what a treasured gift it will make! I plan to leave my teawares to my nieces, so I am making sure to instill a love of tea in them. I do think I will do like you, however, and give some of them away while I'm still around to see them get enjoyment from the pieces. I get so many good ideas from you, Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteI love the generous impulse and loving heart this gesture springs from.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet treasure to pass along to the next generation. I believe in passing things along in the same way you do, Marilyn. That way you can enjoy the process and see the joy.dem
