Spring Fever

It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want - oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!  ~Mark Twain

Saturday I went venturing out to find touches of Spring.
Really, I wanted to see the fields of crocus that
bloom each Spring at "the secret garden".
They were there, yes they were;
but a little worse for wear.  All
the rain had really battered them.
They didn't want to open their pretty faces.
The ones that had braved the cloudy day were
greeted by the honey bees.  Oh, I think
the bees were just waiting with bated breathe.

Also in abundance were the hellebore, camellias,
snowdrops and a few iris too.  Daffodils were closed up tight and
waiting for the sun.

Are you starting to see signs of Spring?
Does it make your heart sing?

  1. Oh yes indeed! My dad gave me six flowering almond bushes last fall, and I left them in the garage a few days and nearly forgot to plant them. Thought I was late, I went ahead and popped them in the ground, and just days ago I was thrilled to see tiny pink blossoms appearing on every single one -- and the tulips are coming up too! Hurrah for spring!

  4. No -- or few -- signs of spring in my neck of the woods. Please tell me those were last year's flowers or I'll really get depressed.

My sign of spring -- seeing the snow melt a little bit from the edges of the lawn and seeing a bit of that dark brown green color, just waiting to wake up. I'm seeing that and a few patches... not much!

The other sign of spring is Rick in his bike clothes. Waiting for that one, too -- though he threatens it will be next week!

  5. No signs yet. Unless you count the increased bird song and brighter mornings. But it is coming, I can smell it in the air!

  6. The daffodils are just barely nudging above the soil line here...usually don't bloom until mid April...so it is a treat to see all of your blooms...Thanks...I've always loved that quote too!♥

  9. These photos made my day, Marilyn! We have no signs of spring yet--just dirty snow and probably another storm or two before all is said and done. And yet . . . the air today felt softer, the sun rose higher, and there were moments when I was standing directly in the sunlight that I almost felt, if not exactly warm, at least not cold! :) Your pictures will help tide me over until spring finally hits here. xoxo Gigi

  14. ....even after the rains the flowers are still lovely, just seeing some color from afar brightens up the dull browns remaining from all those Winter months.

That looks like an interesting house - similar to an English style found in the countryside at home!
