Do you ever think about what you are passionate about?
My husband is a passionate gardener.
In the winter when there isn't much to do outside,
he does a little gardening inside.
For me that means, I get to enjoy living, growing things inside during the winter.
Paper whites is one of his favorites and I love them too.
They are so easy to grow inside and they bring so much JOY.
Then recently he brought some branches into the house from
a star magnolia. Just putting the branches in a vase, they have
begun showing blooms.
Are you a winter gardener?
What do you like to have that shares it's beauty with you?
Have you been watching the ground outside to see if there are signs of life?

Happy Weekend, dear friends!
Go out and find new signs for the winter garden.
Ahhh... the sweet fragrance of paperwhites! So delicious!
ReplyDeleteWhile I love each season of the year, I tend to enjoy each season while it's "in season" so to speak. So my winter decor inside runs to icy branches and icy wreaths and a lot of my favorite glass ice candles. I love the mix of cold and warm in what the candles suggest. I've also been known to freeze a real ice candle to use on the front steps with a lit candle. Very magical. So you won't find anything growing inside right now that wouldn't be growing outside. I have a re-telling of The Snow Queen story on the mantle now with a suggestion of ice and cold and aurora borealis. So my vases are sprouting only icy sprigs and snow flowers. :-) But to each his or her own, to enjoy the season as works best for you. For some reason I rest in Winter and feel no need to hurry the warmth and color of Spring.
ReplyDeleteI am an awful gardener...lol. I do have some paper whites and an orchid that I hope I don't kill! No signs of life outside...as we just got 6 inches of snow.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! Ours came out of the fridge on New Year's Day, and are just beginning to show greenery.
ReplyDeleteLucky you, to have a gardener in the household. I love paperwhites - they truly cheer up any wintry day.
ReplyDeleteI love paper whites Marilyn, I can smell their wonderful scent just looking at your picture. I would love to grow plants inside, but unfortunately I have cats that eat them, even the artificial!
ReplyDeleteyour picture is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHubby has no green thumbs other than using them to push the mower!! Whereas I love growing things but am finding keeping up with the garden harder now - plus my time is limited, don't you know!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteToday the bluebell leaves are shooting through the earth, the Galanthus leaves are already up about 6 inches, and I noted a few daffodils in bud. The camellias are lovely and their blooms huge, there are even a few purple periwinkle flowers showing - all way too soon and I fear they will suffer if/when we do get Winter. The nights are cold now - below freezing - which is why I've just filled my lovely hot water bottle with the cashmere sweater cover (thank you Restoration Hardware) and am off to bed!
Nighty night - sleep well.
Hugs - Mary
It is snowing like crazy out right now...and all I want is Spring...oh well I guess it will be a cozy weekend...hugs and love to you. xoxoxo Our heather is blooming.
ReplyDeleteBeautifull flower...
ReplyDeleteBest regards from Paris,
Pierre
I love paper whites and have never done them. I keep thinking I should! I'm a poor indoor gardener, but I keep watching the thyme that is outside and still soldiers through the winter. So nice to have fresh thyme!
ReplyDeleteLove this picture! It is beautiful!

Indoor gardening is the only kind I do. My amaryllis this year was gorgeous, with one stem yielding six blooms.
ReplyDeleteThe paper whites are pretty and they have such a strong fragrance, don't they?
♥Happy Sunday♥
ReplyDeleteLove all you share.

Paper whites... I LOVE these! There is not much growing outside here must now, and won't be for weeks & weeks. Just today I was at the florist to get a new orchid, and also bought a little basket stuffed with what will be white muscari--grape hyacinths... in a few weeks, after being forced here indoors they'll bloom... I can't wait! I'm really craving flowers & greenery now. :o) Happy Week, Marilyn ((HUGS)) P.S.
ReplyDeleteI'm hosting a Valentine Swap and Giveaway, stop by to see if you'd like to join in.
I wish I were a passionate gardner...no wait, I wish my husband were a passionate gardner! What a blessing for you. Nobody does much real gardening at my house. But I am passionate about being out in God's garden, his beautiful creation, and enjoying all the beauty he has provided for us. What I love his flowers is that not only to they look beautiful, many of them also smell so divine! Such extravagance! It's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHey, I've got some of those! I have never bought paper whites before, but I got four bulbs a few days before Christmas and they are just now shooting up. I can't wait until I have pretty flowers like yours!
ReplyDeletethis photo is amazing, M.
