Dear Little Hummer

Recently on a warm winter afternoon I was sitting outdoors for awhile.
Suddenly I heard a strong fluttering noise above my head.
There he was welcoming me to his yard.
This dear little hummer came to share the afternoon,
he with his sweet drink and I with my tea.
What a perfect companion for tea.
I sat silently watching and savoring the moments.
He in his green coat and I in my black.
Oh I am so happy I was sitting there on a warm winter afternoon.
Just pure JOY to share the afternoon with you.

Have you had a close encounter with nature lately?
If not, step outside and savor a few moment in the out of doors.
Happy weekend, dear friends!

  1. How sweet! We try to keep our hummingbird feeders filled at our mountain cabin. Sometimes there are 15 at a time, vying for the sweet nectar! It doesn't last from week-end to week-end --- so sometimes my MIL would take a trip up the mountain mid-week just to refill the feeder. * For the past six weeks I've been feeding goldfinches ---- right off my back deck and outside of my kitchen window. They can be aggressive little things, but oh, so pretty! They are on their 4th feeding sack of black thistle for this year. So fun and bring such JOY to my day! * Thanks for sharing about your delightful little creature!

  3. I've been marveling at the cherry trees just now blooming. They don't seem to mind the rain.

  7. What a lovely little treat, Marilyn. I just set out new bird feeders filled with seeds and am waiting for the finches to find it. I love their bright yellow feathers and the way they compete for a spot on the little perches. Do you think this rain will ever let up?

  9. What a cool companion to have tea with. My encounter recently was, upon walking out to the back yard with my dog, I was surprised to see 7 deer staring at me as they chewed on our garden. Such beautiful animals.
    Great day to you.

  13. Sooo sweet... I miss hummingbirds, as we don't have them here. Such almost mystical little creatures, aren't they?! During the weekend I had a close encounter with an art exhibit that touched my heart & spirit in a HUGE way. I find viewing art a naturally emotional experience, but this particular exhibit really had me entering some fantastic dreamscape paintings! I hope post/share more on this next week. Happy Days ((HUGS))

  14. Did you say hummingbirds? I cannot wait for these perfect little creatures to return, probably sometime in May. No doubt they will always dazzle you by their speed and color...nature's finest! Happy Spring!
