Storage is always at a premium in my 1950's house.
Recently I realized my collection of vintage tablecloths were not being
enjoyed and just stuffed (really) into a very small cupboard.
Venturing off to the antique malls around town I searched for something
to put them in and fell in love with this old cabinet.
I can just imagine it attached to the wall on a back porch long ago.
The doors have screens instead the normal glass for inside the house.
Could home canned fruits and vegetables been stored here?
It is fun to imagine.
Now it has been brought inside my house and I am loving it
and in return it is shining with my treasures.
How do you display special collections?
Do you collect something that requires a special way of display?

It is a beautiful display cabinet! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the scallops on the bottom of the cabinet! It's perfect for showcasing your vintage linens. Mine are currently in a big basket in the dining room, but I wish I had cupboard space for them. One of these days....
ReplyDeleteYou cabinet is such a beauty and I especially love its scallopped bottom.
ReplyDeletebtw, you have quite a number of tablecloths and very prtty too from what I can see!
I have a collection of old china and english transferware which I keep in a hutch in my dining room. as my collection is constantly increasing one day soon I'll run ouf of storing/displaying space and I simply d.r.e.a.d. that day.
I've so much enjoyed my visit.

What a great way to display the linens! I see some of the same linen patterns that I have...tucked away in a closet. I too, need to bring things out and enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteI love the character that the scallops give the cabinet.
What a great idea. Many of my mother's and grandmother's things are tucked away out of sight, too. It's difficult to know how to display them.
ReplyDeleteLove your "new" linen cabinet! You'll use your vintage linens a lot more often now that they're readily accessible.
ReplyDeleteAwesome piece Marilyn, I'm thinking maybe for cooling baked goods? I've been trying for years to get Ken to bring up the pie cupboard and china cabinet that's been in his family for generations so it can be restored and store my lustreware.
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I love the way you can enjoy "seeing" your vintage linens while they are neatly stored.
ReplyDeleteYour new cabinet is the perfect way to display your pretty vintage tablecloths. Love the scallops on the bottom!

I love this cabinet! This is a perfect use of it for your home. Awesome...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful display cabinet! And what a perfect spot for your antique linens! It was meant to be.
ReplyDeleteH Marilyn,
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous treasure to be enjoyed. I just love the character of antiques.
Blessings,
Darlene
That is a particularly charming way to display your vintage linens! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLOVELY cupboard, Marilyn...what a super find! I love that scalloped edge detail... Special things are displayed on open-shelving here or on bookcase mixed with books. Having a small house, one does need to be clever with storage, I can relate our 100+ year old house has next to no closets, etc.! LOL...
ReplyDeleteWe're going to Vienna later this week and be away a few days. See you soon in blogland. :o) ((HUGS))
