This is Carol.
She was one of the speakers at the conference I recently attended.
The theme was Grace, a word I am quite familiar with.
It was my word for the year several years ago before I started blogging.
It's a good word.
Carol is 83 years young and her topic was saying "Yes" to grace.
I often say no because somedays I just feel overwhelmed with all there is to do.
Carol was a young mother when she first said "Yes".
In 1961 she wrote to the Portland Reporter about her concern for the crisis in Berlin
and how that would effect "our little ones".
She became involved and for many years she traveled the world working with
American Friends Service Committee "working for peace and social justice by nonviolent means".
Her desire has been to be "An instrument of peace."
Through Carol's words and thinking on the word Grace
I realized that Grace is a word of movement.
Saying "Yes" is a form of movement.
What we say yes it allows us to move forward.
I am not sure from day to day where saying yes might move me,
but for me I will move forward with Grace.

A truth about life I often forget! Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteHow very interesting -- I woke up this very morning realizing I needed to reflect on "grace" in my life. Is it coincidence that I chose now to try to catch up with my blog friends? Interesting timing--thanks!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts - lots to think about today. I like the idea if thinking of grace as movement. Grace really is an action word. I had never thought of it that way before.
ReplyDeleteGreat words! I want to move forward with Grace, too, my friend.
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Definitely food for thought. Saying YES out loud opens many pathways.
ReplyDeleteI love this. Jeffrey and I have been talking a lot lately about the need for grace and for mercy. I love that kind of synchronicity between friends, no matter how far apart.
ReplyDeleteExtending grace is indeed an action verb - I am so grateful for those who've extended grace to me when I haven't been all I should be. And it's my prayer that I'll extend grace to others when they need it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful-hearted friend who sees what lies ahead and chooses to do something.
ReplyDeleteMay we all add a little more Grace into our lives each day...
ReplyDeleteI love the word "grace." To me it means great peace of mind and handling all that is difficult the right way. My aunt was named Grace and I always thought Grace Kelly was aptly named -- it's a wonderful name. Thanks for this beautiful post!
