Sun goes down

I pluck the petals that are wet with dew,
and drink my solitary cup in quiet.
When it is empty, pour myself another,
The Sun goes down and all of nature rests.

T'ao Ch'ien, China 400CE

Do you drink a cup of tea as the Sun goes down?
Does it relax you or keep you awake?
Or maybe you sip something herbal in the evening?
What is your pleasure in an evening with tea?

  1. During the cooler months I do have a cup of tea in the evening. It has a way of helping me wind down the day...and relaxed...

  2. I drink an herbal tea in the late afternoon or evening. It is so calming and gives me time to just sit for a while.

  3. A huge teacup painted with roses, rosemary tea with leaves picked fresh from The Blue Garden.
A pleasure both mornings and nights :-)

  4. I can drink any kind of tea before bedtime --- and I routinely do --- without any problems with sleep. No matter what the type, it soothes and refreshes.

I love this picture (and remembering the scene in my mind's eye).

  6. What a pretty tray Marilyn, in the evening if I don't have tea, a mug of hot cocoa made with almond milk puts me right to sleep.

  8. LOVE the scene you've set here with cozy bed and tea tray, Marilyn! I'm ready to come over! ;o) I usually drink an herbal tea in the evening--I like to mix it up, but relaxing chamomile or something with lavender in I find very relaxing. Occasionally I go for a rooibos for richer brew. Happy Weekend, my friend ((HUGS))

  9. That's a charmingly-set tea tray. I sometimes drink a refreshing decaffeinated tea with lemon in an evening.

  11. Blessedly, the caffeine in tea doesn't bother me a bit, and I think I could drink Red Bull and I'd still drift off about 11 p.m.! This photo is charming--looks like the sort of B&B I'd like to stay at, and of course I *love* seeing a pretty tea tray!

*And thanks for letting me know your new towels arrived! I meant to include a card in your package, then I mailed it and got home and the card was still there. Grrr. At least you knew who it was from!

  12. I never think of drinking tea before bedtime - I might give it a go. I don't usually have any coffee after noon but when I have had it occasionally after dinner out I've never had problems sleeping so I'm sure tea would be fine too - and of course I could try decaf tea I suppose.

Lovely image - could have used it last night when we lost our power for several hours in a huge storm. I needed calming!

    Love, Mary

  13. I love a cup of hot tea (no caffeine, though) in the evenings when the weather is cool. In the summer, not so much. I am looking forward to my evening cup of tea again in 5-6 weeks.
