From The Color of Tea, by Hannah Tunnicliffe:
Macarons
Macarons are tiny French confections made from the finest almond powder, egg whites, and sugar.
They have charmed Parisians and Europeans for centuries, their crisp, sweet shells sandwiched together with
creamy fillings. They are infinitely more elegant than cupcakes, daintier than tarts, prettier than pastries.
Charming, meringue-like buttons, full of French couture attitude. The delight is in the changing flavors,
inspired by seasons, whims, or moods. They are best enjoyed over a cup of tea and a conversation
filled with secrets and gossip. These sweets have a cult following, and it is easy to see why; after your first, you will be hooked...
Ok, I am hooked on macarons with my tea.
What a perfect combination for afternoon tea.
The book was picked up at the market recently
and is just a fun summer read.
I had fun reading it and now want to pass it on.
If you would like to be the next to read it,
leave a comment today and I will announce the winner tomorrow.
This is a new book to me... would be fun to read! We sampled macarons last January for the first time... they are fun! Such color combinations and such flavors, too! Must soon attempt to make my own!
ReplyDeleteThese look so good, I've never had one before but will have to try and find some!
ReplyDeleteOh, my! Macarons -- they are the most delicious, amazing things I know! Cult following is all too true! Yes indeed, please enter me! And I love -- no, adore -- the photo!
ReplyDeleteMacarons are delightful! Bea's at Bloomsbury has published a great baking book with a macaron recipe so that you can try to make your own. Delightful!
ReplyDeleteLove the composition of this photo, Marilyn, and the balance of color is so inviting. The book title fits right in.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to offer the book to one of us. I love macarons and don't need any excuse to eat one! I sure don't need the calories!!! The Color of Tea -- love the title!
ReplyDeleteI would love a chance to read the book. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to try a macaron. They sound heavenly!
ReplyDeleteI have never tasted a macaroon. But they are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely prettier than a chocolate chip...are they just as tasty? Super Sam has a baby sister coming in 2 weeks. Wonder if we will get another super hero. This super hero still has a binkie, the 0-3 month size. He looks pretty funny with it in his mouth. Don't you have a new grand baby coming soon?
Oh yes, I would love to read this book "next". It looks absolutely delightful!
ReplyDeleteAnd those macarons --- are beautiful!
Love, love, love macarons!! Before summer's out I want to have a go at making some! They are very expensive to buy here, so going to try making some...If they turn out well, I may post on them. ;o) This books sounds lovely. Thank you for the chance to win, Marilyn...very fun! Happy Weekend ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI would love the book, but unfortunately it is too expensive to mail it to Norway......
ReplyDeleteThey are delightful - I enjoyed my first ones sitting by a fountain in Aix-en-Provence several years ago - I recall the first bite and knew I wanted more!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried baking your own yet Marilyn? I haven't but would like to give it a go! Please throw my name in the hat, thank dear!

Enter me, please.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great photo!
ReplyDeleteI resisted the Laduree cart at Printemps last week - so tempting!
ReplyDeleteOK, I am going to order this book! And you have put into words something I'd been thinking but couldn't quite articulate. I'd considered macarons a "fancy" tea treat, but that word "elegant" really sums it up. Thanks!
