The Color of Tea

Macarons

Macarons are tiny French confections made from the finest almond powder, egg whites, and sugar.
They have charmed Parisians and Europeans for centuries, their crisp, sweet shells sandwiched together with
creamy fillings.  They are infinitely more elegant than cupcakes, daintier than tarts, prettier than pastries. 
Charming, meringue-like buttons, full of French couture attitude.  The delight is in the changing flavors,
inspired by seasons, whims, or moods.  They are best enjoyed over a cup of tea and a conversation
filled with secrets and gossip.  These sweets have a cult following, and it is easy to see why; after your first, you will be hooked...


Ok, I am hooked on macarons with my tea.
What a perfect combination for afternoon tea.
The book was picked up at the market recently
and is just a fun summer read.

    This is a new book to me... would be fun to read! We sampled macarons last January for the first time... they are fun! Such color combinations and such flavors, too! Must soon attempt to make my own!

    Macarons are delightful! Bea's at Bloomsbury has published a great baking book with a macaron recipe so that you can try to make your own. Delightful!

    How nice to offer the book to one of us. I love macarons and don't need any excuse to eat one! I sure don't need the calories!!! The Color of Tea -- love the title!

    I have never tasted a macaroon. But they are so pretty.
    Definitely prettier than a chocolate chip...are they just as tasty? Super Sam has a baby sister coming in 2 weeks. Wonder if we will get another super hero. This super hero still has a binkie, the 0-3 month size. He looks pretty funny with it in his mouth. Don't you have a new grand baby coming soon?

    Love, love, love macarons!! Before summer's out I want to have a go at making some! They are very expensive to buy here, so going to try making some...If they turn out well, I may post on them. ;o) This books sounds lovely. Thank you for the chance to win, Marilyn...very fun!     They are delightful - I enjoyed my first ones sitting by a fountain in Aix-en-Provence several years ago - I recall the first bite and knew I wanted more!

    Have you tried baking your own yet Marilyn? I haven't but would like to give it a go! Please throw my name in the hat, thank dear!

    OK, I am going to order this book! And you have put into words something I'd been thinking but couldn't quite articulate. I'd considered macarons a "fancy" tea treat, but that word "elegant" really sums it up. Thanks!
