There is a sign on my inspiration board that says SHINE.
Why it is there, I don't know.
When I look at that word I tell myself that isn't a word to focus on; so I keep looking.
Mid-year I thought the word BEAUTY had chosen me,
but then I realized this is just something I like to focus on all the time.
Then a month or so ago on another blog someone posted the quote:
Stay invisible unless you are going to shine by Marcus Samuelsson
My eyes immediately went to that word SHINE and my inspiration board.
Can I SHINE in times of darkness?
Can I allow the light to come through my heart and show through my eyes?
The more I thought about this word I knew it was choosing me for 2013.
So there you have it, my word for 2013 is SHINE.
Why it is there, I don't know.
When I look at that word I tell myself that isn't a word to focus on; so I keep looking.

Marilyn, I've been pondering a new word for the upcoming year since reading your last post about "Passion". I think "Shine" suits you well for 2013. I hope you shine and I can read all about it on your post. Somehow I just don't feel I shine much anymore. Especially when I see the sparkle and shine in the faces of my young grandchildren. I think I'm more of soft glow and constant light. Like a nightlight that is there for you so your don't stub your toe in the middle of the night. So I think my word will be "Constant", quietly strong and yet there to light the way if needed.
ReplyDeleteSHINE is a great focus for 2013!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with letting your wonderful self shine through! You've been an inspiration, trying so much to keep the joy in life. I've decided to have a word for the new year as well :) Though I don't know what it is yet
ReplyDeleteI love it! What a great word. I didn't have a word as of yesterday morning - then, all of a sudden, my word for next year reached out and tugged at my heart strings. I've been thinking and contemplating about it all day - and it makes me smile to think I didn't choose it. It chose me! I'll reveal soon.

Ohhh...that is a beautiful word! Shine on my dear and share your light with the world!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea to have a word for each new year! 'Shine' is a good one. A beautiful photo to illustrate it.
ReplyDeleteYes, Shine is a great choice. The world would be a better place if we each would be a light that shines in the darkness. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL choice of expression to channel, Marilyn! Especially the challenge of shining in times of darkness of trouble. This is really inspiring! LOVE your candle image that accompanies this too. I've been journalling this weekend on 2013, and hope to share more on that shortly. And next year I hope we get to meet for real--that would be so lovely! :o) Happy New Year ((LOVE & HUGS))
ReplyDeleteEverytime I hear or read the word "shine" this year, I will think of you and my special 2012 visit to your home. Thank you, friend.

I love it Marilyn, isn't it amazing how things work out? It brings to mind the song we sang in Sunday School, "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine." I'll be revealing my word on Tuesday, as I keep going back and forth between two.
ReplyDeleteI love shine. If you can shine, you can do anything. Survive anything. Find the bright in anything -- or make the dull, well, shine! Perfection!
ReplyDeleteSHINE on, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an encouraging word. Blessings for the New Year.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to pop by and wish you the happiest new year. May your 2013 be full of blessings, laughter, and happy surprises. Thank you for being a blog friend and a joyful part of my life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful word! It makes me think of the Sunday School chorus I learned as a child: "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine... let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!" And I think of the ancient proverb,
ReplyDelete"Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness."
May God's love shine brightly through me in 2013! Blessings to you and yours in the New Year, Marilyn! ~ Phyllis
P.S. Hope you're feeling better!
