Yesterday in the mail a small book arrived.
It was from Lily's uncle.
He had found it when cleaning and thought of me
and all the Christmas teas he had attended in my home.
What a thoughtful gift.
It doesn't look like much, but tucked inside it said:

How fun to be given the gift of recipes from a tea that took place in 1957.
There are recipes for a Jelly Roll, Peppermint Candy Dessert,
Potato Chip Cookies, Cherry Tarts, Clam Cheese Ball, and many more fun, delectable delights.
Isn't it fun when you receive a thoughtful gift just right for you?
Thanks, dear friends!
Have you been on the receiving end of a thoughtful gift just right for you?

I am new to your blog...not sure how I found it, but when I saw the tagline "Seeking Beauty in Every Day Life," I knew it was a place I wanted to hang out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific gift you received. I am in love with those mid-20th century years (30's - 50's), so I would have the same excitement about receiving a book like that. Touching the pages of that book and trying the recipes from that tea will be like taking a trip back in time.
Blessings,
Patti

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet gift and so many new ideas for you from an age long gone.
ReplyDeleteWhen going through my late husband's family's home to prepare it for sale, I found a similar recipe book from his 3rd grade class. It looks to be the same size as your treasure! They both are family heirlooms for us to enjoy.♥♫
ReplyDeleteUnexpected gifts are the best! And when it pertains to something you're passionate about, it's even better! How nice! ~ Phyllis

Hi Marilyn - oh what a lovely gift given your love and appreciation of tea. I received the gift of "time" from a dear friend who gave his whole day to be part of our move - he too has MS and is in a wheel chair - his presence was pure love. :-)

ReplyDeleteSuch thoughtful gifts are precious and I'm sure you will enjoy making some of the tea-time treats when you entertain
ReplyDeleteyour friends in your home.
I'm enjoying some of the gifts given to me by the grandchildren and hand-made ones are always appreciated.
How wonderful and what a special gift indeed. Much love and many blessings. Yes I appreciate and love each and every gift given to me so very much indeed.

That is sooo incredibly sweet--and perfect for you, Marilyn! At Christmas I received a gift of tea from my sister-in-law, a spice tea that was just right. She's a busy mom of 3, and I didn't think she ever noticed what I drank, so the thoughtfulness was appreciated a lot. :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteOh, I love books like that - they are such treasures. Even more, the thoughtfulness behind the gift makes it priceless.
ReplyDeleteA perfect gift. It illustrates how you've made a difference in the lives of others.
ReplyDeleteHow very thoughtful. That's simply lovely and such a wonderful gesture. Yes, I've received a thoughtful and surprising gift before, and I'm never sure which impresses me most -- the surprise or the thought behind it!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that your friend thought of you with this ... maybe you'll share a recipe or two with us one day? :)
