Portland, Oregon, where I live, is called the City of Roses.
It is Rose Festival time in the city.
Last Saturday evening the celebration began with a parade under the stars.
It is called the Starlight Parade and is a casual fun parade.
Yesterday was the Junior Rose Parade for the children.
All the participants are children.
When my children were young we were often found at this parade.
Saturday there will be dragon boat races in the river through the middle of the city
and the big Rose Parade too. A rose show at the mall is always a delight.
So if you ever travel to Portland this is the perfect time to smell the roses.
The photos in the collage are the roses in my garden right now.
The peach in the upper middle is hanging above the arbor where I often have tea.
I just love and delight in rose season and jump at every opportunity to nuzzle my nose in a rose.

ReplyDeleteA rose festival! Oh, love that! I've not been to such a event, but can imagine how special it is. We need to add Portland to our to-see list. ;o) Happy Weekend, Marilyn ((HUGS))

I love roses too, Marilyn, mine are also in full bloom right now. The only problem is, the leaves are being eaten, as they are every year. Do you have this problem?
ReplyDeleteGuess what?????
ReplyDeleteI'm coming this July. For real and for certain. When we get absolute dates locked in with his parents, can I email you to set up a meeting? I'm very excited, you know.
I love Rose Festival time - and I love Portland! Of course you know that I love roses! Yours are gorgeous.

What lovely roses. I lived in Portland for a short while. It was a fun experience.
ReplyDeleteYour peach rose looks like my David Austin 'Tea Clipper' rose. Clearly, when I come to Portland, it needs to be at Rose Festival time!
ReplyDeleteYour garden roses are gorgeous - makes me want to plant some in my garden. The peach is my favorite.
