The lavender in my garden is ripe and ready for something special.
I hadn't made lavender jelly before, but this week was the week to make jelly.
I just love summer for the bounty from the garden.
This is my first try and it turned out quite good.
Isn't it amazing how the color changed?
From lavender blue to pink.
What would you use lavender jelly on?
I thought of thumb print cookies at Christmas time or scones.
Lavender in the garden reminds me of the song.
Now let's all sing along ~
Lavender's blue, dilly dilly,
Lavender's green
When you are king, dilly dilly,
I shall be queen
Who told you so, dilly dilly,
Who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly,
That told me so
Call up your friends, dilly, dilly
Set them to work
Some to the plough, dilly dilly,
Some to the fork
Some to the hay, dilly dilly,
Some to thresh corn
Whilst you and I, dilly dilly,
Keep ourselves warm
Lavender's blue, dilly dilly,
Lavender's green
When you are king, dilly dilly,
I shall be queen
Who told you so, dilly dilly,
Who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly,
That told me so.
May your day have a song in it.

Yes I sang along Marilyn, I remember it well from childhood. I have never heard of lavender jelly, Could you share the recipe? I have a lot of it in the garden, I never imagined making jelly with it and would love to try!
ReplyDeleteI made the jelly from this recipe:

I like the way you have topped them and tied them with the ribbon. They look like a special treat.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how sweet it is! I love the song - and I love lavender. I'll have to try making jelly one of these days.

Love all you share.
ReplyDeleteBlessings love you

I sed to sing that song when I was a kid and I sang it with my kids when they were ittle, too. I've never had lavender jelly, but it sounds absolutely delightful!! It sounds like it would be so tasty on scones. The jars look really beautiful with the linen on top, too.
ReplyDeleteThis coming Sat. I have a post going up on the lavender from my garden (we have so much in common), however I haven't done anything as spectacular with mine - just drying it to use around the house.
ReplyDeleteLoved what you said about turning the calendar Marilyn - I (we) are such excited about meeting you guys too..............won't be long now!
Hugs - Mary X
Awfully pretty! I need to check out the recipe -- mine is blooming, too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And melodic!
ReplyDeleteI think lavender jelly and scones sounds just heavenly!
ReplyDeleteYour jam is gorgeous! I thought of the thumbprint cookies but also scones and biscuits would benefit from a dollop, no doubt!
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL jam, Marilyn! I love lavender! And love lavender jam or jelly--especially on scones. ;o) I've never made it before though. Do you have a recipe link? Wonderful color! ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteWhoops... I did see you shared the recipe link here... Thank you, Marilyn! :o) ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI've never heard that song before. It must not have made its way to my neighborhood in Michigan! ;-) Your lavender jelly looks yummy! It will be a real treat this winter when your garden is dormant - assuming it stays in your pantry that long!
