A Nest

A lovely nest I spied just the other day.
Tucked in a corner of the garden.
Sitting there to delight my soul with a chestnut
open and revealing it's heart
resting in the nest.

At night when I tuck in bed with pillows all around,
a book in hand,
a cat nearby,
and the warmth of blankets encircling me,
I feel as if I have entered my nest,
protected and warm.
A safe place to open and reveal my heart
while resting comes in the night.

Notice those small things tucked in corners.
Discover and Delight in the Day.
What are you noticing today?

  1. Goodness me, what a fabulous garden find. It's like a message for your very own heart. Although the birds have gone they left a thank you in that garden corner at Lan Su (right?). What bird builds a large loose, coarse nest such as this one, did you find out?

I'm enjoying tucking into bed these cooler nights - even cuddling my precious hot water bottle in its cashmere sweater - especially nice as it doesn't snore like the other foot warmer, LOL!

I'm noticing my empty rooms and corners as I await the floor guys (see my post today). I like them - and the corners will soon be filled again, and clean, haha!

Hugs to you both - and thanks so much for the e-card, it's lovely.

  2. Oddly enough, I've never made the comparison between this type of nest and my own "nesting," which brings me great comfort, especially at this time of year. Thanks for the thought!

  3. NOw that's a large nest. I am also enjoying tucking myself into bed at night under warm covers and being thankful for the blessing of having them.
    Have a Blessed day.

  4. Oh, what a beautiful find. And what a lovely way, you have placed it.

I feel "nested," in my favorite chair... In the Hearth Room we love... With (or without) a fire in the fireplace... And a throw over my legs... And my present reading, beside me on a little side table...

Oh yes! A lovely, lovely nesting feeling.

Thank you for this lovely post.

  6. Dear Marilyn,
What a beautiful nest and a lovely little miracle. I loved your analogy.
I noticed the sunrise colors this morning. I am in Florida and saw the light come to day in pinks, oranges and lavender set.
    Best, Ruthie

  8. Oh, how I love nests! This is a fabulous one! I've been noticing changes in my ditch walks -- new ducks I've never seen before for one, change of color for another. Fall... a bittersweet season for me.

  9. That is quite the nest! (And of course, home is the best nest of all).

  10. Nest feathers. Quietude. Tranquility. And another great photo!
