2014 My Quiet First Tea

The candle is lit, the tea is poured.

Breakfast is on the plate.

Early on January 1, 2014 I sipped my first cup of tea,
a private celebration.
A perfect way to face a new year and reminisce
and give thought to the new year.
In my cup was Risheehat Wiry Musk, second flush, Darjeeling.
On my plate were freshly baked scones with
orange marmalade, dates, and dried apricots.
The morning was dark, a foggy morning, and the house was very quiet.
As the sun rose on the new day and year, I felt a peace wash over me.

Do you take time for these quiet moments?
I hope so, as they are so precious and so healing.
Enjoy the early morning hours with a special cup of tea.
Time to pray, time to sing, and time to dream.

  1. I haven't enjoyed such a quiet tea just yet, but you've certainly inspired me to take time to do so, and soon. Happy New Year to you and yours, Marilyn!

  2. Yes, I do. But I haven't tried the candlelit tea before. A new thing for me to try! I just noticed that you have a moonstone "vase" in your pic... I have a moonstone dish in my latest tea post, too.

  5. "Another fresh new year is here . . .
    Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
    My highest and my best!

    I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!" ~William Arthur Ward

I wish for a year of the most beautiful blessings in 2014

    Hope
Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
    Whispering 'it will be happier'...”

  6. I savor those quiet moments when I can have my classical music playing softly in the background and no other sound in the house. Chores are left till later and calm flows upon me. This is when I begin to feel creative as the clamour in my head also becomes quiet.
    Happy New Year, Marilyn.

  11. I treasure the quiet early morning hours before the day gets busy. I'm an early riser and I love to be still and read and pray and dream. There's nothing like early morning tea - and quiet.
