Out of the darkness of winter
I am well again
I am searching for Spring again
and what did I see?
Daffodils beginning to
push through the ground,
Crocus too!
Each year this just makes my heart sing,
to see new growth coming up from
something so dark.
Delight!

I always love that you are about six weeks ahead of me when it comes to spring. Though it's still cold and lifeless here, your special preview gives me such joy and hope!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and happy blooming, Marilyn!
I am finding NO delight in the darkness of winter. I am longing for the longer days, those first bursts of green (or green anywhere -- even that soggy darkish brownish green that passes for grass after many months of snow. What a wonderful sign!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the spring flowers again, I know it's only January, but it's the longest month it seems. Beautiful way with words once again Marilyn.
ReplyDeleteNow that is something to be joyful about! Today our weather was very much Spring like...I think I should go searching in my garden...I may be surprise. Blessing to you my friend.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs and how lovely the thoughts of spring and soon spring flowers in bloom.
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart.
Much love
Jeanne

ReplyDelete"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant."
~ Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672)
A sensitive plant in a garden grew,
ReplyDeleteAnd the young winds fed it with silver dew,
And it opened its fan-like leaves to the light,
and closed them beneath the kisses of night.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley ~
Happy you're on the mend dearest - and that you also see some signs of life in the garden. I've seen a few shoots peeking through those piles of leaves too - it gives one hope. On the other hand I love winter - well at least when it's not dangerous with icy roads and travel becomes unsafe for many.
ReplyDeleteWe have thick 'pea soup' fog this morning for a change!
Here's to 'singing hearts' Marilyn.
Hugs - Mary
I haven't yet seen signs of jonquils coming up here, but after the warmth of the past few days I will have to go look again!
ReplyDeleteThis has been a particularly harsh and brutal winter in the northeast... I'm happy to see there is still hope for spring!
