Tea time is always extra special when sitting with a friend.
Being served these special, delicious sandwiches, I felt like a queen.
Sipping tea and conversation are always a favorite afternoon treat.

Then we played in the kitchen making mochi.
Mochi is a sweetened glutinous rice mixture wrapped
around a small piece of bean paste.
A special Japanese sweet often served with tea.

Have you made mochi?
Have you even nibbled on mochi?
Having been served these little treats at several teas,
I was curious to know how to make them.
Thanks, Stephanie, for letting me play in your kitchen.
The mochi and tea were yummy!

Such a very special afternoon!
ReplyDeleteI treasure our times together!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! And I love the stacked teacup plate stand! I had mochi in Japan but have never made it!
ReplyDeleteYOU CAN MAKE MOCHI?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteThat's it...I'm coming over.
My first thought was, "What a pretty display, and it looks just like Steph's new china." Because it WAS, ha!
ReplyDeleteLove Steph's creativity with the china "tiered server" and her sandwiches look wonderful. Afternoon Tea shared with special friends [and family] are wonderful times, indeed!
ReplyDeleteA clever tiered server, I've not heard of mochi but they sound interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tea - I like how the tiered stand is put together. I've never tried mochi, but they look good.
ReplyDeleteOoh Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteNo I've not even heard of mochi let alone tasted it.
I will ask Yoshia who is Japanese and married to our nephew!
Meantime I'll visit Stephanie's blog and learn some more!
I love your sweet cake stand!
Hugs
Shane
LOVE the teacup-stand--sweet idea! I've had mochi once. It was an acquired taste, as I'm not very fond of glutinous rice, but do like the bean paste center... So no, I've made them. But I'd try eating them again. LOL! ;o) Happy Days, Marilyn ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteVery impressive that you've made mochi!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wonderful way to spend a day! I love mochi and maybe someday can learn to make it. And the stacked china "3 tiered tray" is lovely!
