Poem in Your Pocket

I meant to Do My Work To-day

I meant to do my work to-day-
But a brown bird sang in the apple-tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand-
So what could I do but laugh and go?
~Richard Le Gallienne

Today is Poem in Your Pocket Day.
Celebrate with a poem and come and play.

  5. Nice! I have felt that way once we're into spring. Not yet though, it's cold here, not many birds singing, no butterflies yet but the grass is greening! Your pics are lovely, esp. the first one!

  7. Thank you -- this will explain to my critique partner why I didn't get Chapter 4 edited today. I really *was* outside doing all these things!

  8. VERY sweet! That could be my daily poem--there are a lot of good things distracting lately, not least the beauty of spring unfolding! Happy Days, Marilyn ((HUGS))
