From a Girl's Window
This window frames for me alone
Clouds across which birds have flown.
It panels low hills and a sky
Where storms and stars and new suns lie.
On the curtains trees have laid
Cool, grey fingerprints of shade.
Through its casements moons have crossed,
And winds, and still white-slippered frost.
Dawns creeping in, tiptoe, have spread
Silken rose quilts on the bed.
And dust flies to the sill and sings
Of strangely lovely, wistful things.
~Ethel Romig Fuller, Kitchen Sonnets
This was the view for me last weekend.
A pleasant, wonderful time away with girlfriends.
Time to refresh, talk, and enjoy some meals together
is pure delight.
How beautiful! A girl's week-end sounds like so much fun! What a beautiful view!
ReplyDeleteHello Marilyn,
ReplyDeleteThis is certainly a most enchanting view. What a glorious landscape to look out upon and, of course, to be able to enjoy it even more in the good company of friends. This is the stuff of which very happy memories are made.
And, what a delightful poem to complement the view! Perfect.
Take my breath away!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views from the window and an apt poem to go along with them. Time with friends is special.
ReplyDeleteLovely and rejuvenating.
ReplyDeleteMost beautiful. I'm headed up that way in August, road trip with a few friends. Looking forward to seeing that beauty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views - girls' trips are such fun. Love the poem, too...but I have one question. Dust or Dusk in the last stanza? I guess dust could "talk" as well as dusk could, but I just wondered. :-)
ReplyDeleteA most inspiring vista Marilyn.
ReplyDeleteI imagine many poems came to mind as you gazed into the dark blue yonder!
Mountains always stir something in me.
Stunning photography.
That is a lovely view and I like that poem. A weekend away with the girls does sound like fun.
ReplyDeleteWith a view like that it had to be a wonderful time. If all else failed, just stay in the room and enjoy!
