"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try
to love the questions themselves,
like locked rooms and like books that
are now written in a very foreign tongue.
Do not now seek the answers,
which cannot be given you because you would not
be able to live them.
And the point is, to live everything.
Live the questions now.
Perhaps
you will then gradually, without noticing it,
live along some distant
day into the answer."
~ Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet

Beautiful thought. It's a great reminder. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteDeep subject to ponder!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
What a beautiful sentiment, one I will be thinking about today. She has a wonderful way with words, doesn't she?
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope you had a good day off! And this is both a lovely quote and image, Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteQuite a thought-provoking quote - but then they always are from this great Czech born writer. I love that it was written to a young poet.
ReplyDeleteBeing as he was from Prague we ate dinner at the Rainer Maria Rilke restaurant when visiting that beautiful city. For anyone going there I recommend it highly - wonderful Czech food, amazing atmosphere and a charming manager. It's easy to find - near the river.
