Strolling down the avenue.
The Eiffel Tower was the destination.
Nearby the carousel sat waiting for me.
I paid my 3 euros and quickly hopped on.
Tears filled my eyes as round and round we went.
It took me to another time, a time of fairies and childhood delights.
For moments I was a little girl.
It was a dream come true to ride that prancing horse.
A visit to Saint Severin in the Saint Germaine district
was the next stop before having tea with a friend.
As tea time approached we strolled along the avenue
next to the Seine River.
Oh the sights to see!
Truly was this a bride and groom or just a photo shoot.
The photographer didn't like that I was nearby with my camera.
After a few snaps of the lens we strolled on our way.
So glad the water was not flooding the street while we were there,
but sad for the flooding that occurred after leaving.
Sending best wishes to one of my favorite cities for success in returning
to this beauty.
Yes, I do love Paris.
Lovely photos! I enjoyed the stroll along with you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your lovely pictures with us. Laughed at the looks that photographer must have been giving you!
ReplyDeleteMarilyn, is that last photo of the little park in Vivian Swift's book that is at the tip of Ile de la Citie? I saw photos of that after the rain -- almost totally covered.
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous photos but my favorite was you on the carousel! Such a happy look!
Dear Marilyn:
ReplyDeleteYour trip to Paris looks like a dream come true! I can't recall if you had already been there but anyway - what a wonderful trip. Your photos are lovely. The bride's dress was shall we say "not me" but fun to see and we sure did "see"! Thanks so much for sharing and linking. Sorry I am late - company left today - busy!
You find the most lovely places! It has been too long since I was on a carousel!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of you on the carousel! I love Paris. xoxo Su
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely stroll around Paris with such a grand destination! And the bride - and that dress - ooh la la!
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely sights to see at every turn! I've been to Paris only once (so far), and I remember being pleasantly surprised at all the lush flowers near the base of the Eiffel Tower. That certainly wasn't anything I had expected. Love that you rode the merry-go-round. May you never lose that childlike sense of adventure!
ReplyDeleteWhat FUN to see you on the carousel...and no wonder you had a teary-eyed moment. It is the stuff of dreams--that's Paris! :) ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteSo young at heart on the Merry-Go-Round! Looks like you are having a fabulous time. What a wedding dress!
ReplyDeleteSips and Smiles,
