Princess and the Pauper

As I sat with my morning tea this very day
my selection of a teacup and teapot reminded me of
the Prince and the Pauper.
The softness of the pink cup crowned with gold made
me feel like a Princess.
The simple brown utilitarian teapot reminded me of the Pauper.
Both gifts from very different people.
Both cherished.
As I look more closely at this photo
I am reminded of the gifts dear ones give us with love.
The white teapot that is holding a bouquet was
a gift from a dear friend that loves all things white.
The trivet was made for me by a dear cousin.

So as I sit here over tea this morning
each brings a sweet memory to the table.
Reflected in the teapot is my home where love resides.

Happy Weekend, dear friends!
I will be away for a couple days.

  1. Dear Marilyn,

This is such a sweet post - reminding us how vitally important it is for us to surround ourselves with only things that bring us joy - and to rid ourselves of the opposite - things - people - situations - surround ourselves with love and joy at all times.

For me doing that brings a sense of people and renewal that I have more energy to devote to praising God.

    Hope you had a nice weekend. : - )

  2. I love this post! The common thread (the friends who gifted these items) really brings this vignette to life. It's funny, but the things I've bought for myself, I can take or leave, but gifts from a friend? Priceless!

  3. Oh Marilyn, you say it so well. And I know what you mean about drinking from cherished gifts from good friends. I feel that about so many things -- they are with me when I am touching what they touched, filling the heart with memories and happy thoughts.
