Walk with Me - A Snowy day in my Neighborhood

This week's walk takes us through my neighborhood.
On Thursday my "live-in gardener" and I decided to walk to the market,
which is 12 city blocks from home.
We spied a leaning snow man just down the street.
Christmas still hanging in this tree.
A cap on the fire hydrant.
 This pretty tree.
 A carriage waiting.
There were chickens inside the hutch.
 A pretty house.
And many treacherous trails along the sidewalks.
Thankful, YES, we stayed upright.
 A little welcoming birdhouse.
Kennedy School had a snowman too.
On the return trip we stopped at Kennedy School.
Now you might think by the name that it is a school.
Once upon a time it was an elementary school.
It sat shuttered and boarded up for some years and
then it was rescued and turned into a B&B,
restaurants (lanterns in the above picture are here),
gift shop, and movie theater.
We love having it in the neighborhood.
 This is the outdoor seating,
which is lovely in the summer months.
So even on a winter's day, there is walking.
Feeling proud of myself for walking in the snow and ice.
I must keep walking.
Walk with me!

  1. Wow -- that's a hike when you have snow like that! But it really is lovely. I always say the best of snow is right after. To much later, it gets icky. But this -- this works!

  2. WOW... you have more snow than we do here in Norway, incredible! :) While I'm trying to make better friends with winter, it's OK if it doesn't snow, though... LOL!Our snow is late coming this year... Global warming, it has to be true. Stay safe, and warm, there! ((HUGS))

  4. I loved following you on your walk Marilyn!
I've only experienced snow on the mountain.
Gingerbread houses are real!!! I would love a pretty house just like that!
Do you need snow shoes - how do your feet stay dry?
I went to boarding school in Wellington where the winters were very cold (no snow) but I still remember the chilblains!
I imagine you enjoyed a mug of hot chocolate at Kennedy House (silly me - knowing you like I do - was it TEA?!)

  5. Beautiful snowy pictures! Sadly, or PA snowfall this year has so far been very disappointing.

  6. I'm trying to catch up with my blog friends after a much-needed break. I loved 'walking' in the snow with you! I'll have to visit the Kennedy School when the weather is nice and I can sit outside. Loved the leaning snowman. My sweetheart and I saw that made us wonder why he didn't fall right over!

  7. I would gladly walk with you. Let me grab my snow boots....of darn I don't have any. They are of little use in south Texas. 80+ outside today, much to warm for winter. I miss the snow and all its beauty.
