I'm a little teapot short and stoat
Tip me over and pour me out.
Do you remember that childhood song?
Well no teapot today, just a cup of tea.
Oh so much goes into that beautiful cup of tea
poured from all shapes of little teapots.
poured from all shapes of little teapots.
From the wonderful women that pick it for us
and yes it is usually a woman because her fingers
are more dexterous.
To the man that planted the tea and cultivated it.
To all the people around the world that cherish it,
process it, and send it to market.
For then we that love a good cup of tea
can sip and savor each mouthful with delight.
Thank you to those men and women that bring us tea.
My mother taught me that little song, I taught it to my children, and now my grandchildren sing it. It's a classic! Yes, thanks to tea growers and tea pickers and processors!
ReplyDeleteI think I have that very teacup -- or at least one quite like it with the scalloped edge. It's one of my favorites and so is yours (one of mine!) A lovely and thoughtful post. Indeed, we would be sorely lost without their efforts!
ReplyDeleteYes, I recall it well! I also remember your visit to China and the great pix you shared. You really are such an expert on tea and everything it embodies dear Marilyn.

Your teacup is beautiful! I sang that little song - complete with the motions - in kindergarten and I've loved it ever since. It's been fun to sing to my grandkids, too.

Yes! Tea is such an affordable luxury, considering all that is involved to bring it to us. I love that photo on top, it's very lovely.
