Sending Love for Valentine's Day

When I walk through an antique mall or shop
and see a bunch of cards or postcards I can't resist
going through them to see if something grabs my attention.
Of course most of the time I am looking for tea themes,
which I don't usually find.
But still a few have come home with me.
I just can't resist all the time!
Did you exchange Valentine's in school when you were young?
I never will forget the time my class was learning about the post office.
We built a post office from boxes and on Valentine's Day
sent our cards through the mail to the others in my class.
Some years we would decorate a paper bag or a box to carry
our cards.
These are such special memories!
My cards are now standing at attention on flower frogs across my mantel.
Those little frogs are handy for more than holding flowers.

Do you still send Valentine's?
Do you love receiving them?
Do children still decorate a bag to carry Valentine's?

Happy Valentine's Day to each of you, dear friends!
Have an extra special day.
I hope you receive at least one Valentine from someone special.
One friend always surprises me and that makes me extra happy.

Enjoy the day!
Sending Love to you!

  1. We still exchange Valentines, Don and I. Don always sends Valentines to our son and daughter. I looked for grandchildren Valentines this year for the first time but didn't pick any up. Options are thin and limited in this little Bootheel town. Next year I will plan earlier. Happy Valentine's Day, Marilyn.

  2. Happy Valentine's Day!

Love those little Valentines, which we used, for school. On another blog, we were wondering if they still sell those? I hope so. If not, another sweet thing gone, from the world.

Sounds silly but I made old fashioned oatmeal for my husband this morning. He loves it. I usually hate to stand and stir it. But I did this morning. :-))))))))

Later we will each have a Cadbury Creme Egg. Not a big Easter one. The smaller ones, which are out now.

    Enjoy your day!!!

  3. I love every single one of these -- they're just wonderful and bring back so many delightful memories! Rick and I do valentines and I send out a few. I remember those little boxes we'd make in school and hope to get valentines from everyone! Big hugs and love to you this day!

  4. Oh, I have special memories of sending Valentines to the classmates in school. And Yes, I remember the boxes we used to put them in. I can see why you can't resist these sweet cards when shopping at antique stores. I still send my kids the Valentines that we used to get in school, and they're in their 30's hahaha. And this year, I sent some to my grandbaby. : )

    Happy Valentine's Day, Marilyn.

  5. Marilyn, I've never looked at cards in an antique store. Must do that! AND it has never occurred to me to use a floral frog to display cards - very clever indeed!

  6. Happy Hearts Day, belated, Marilyn! What a sweet collection you have! Yes, in grade school we had to exchange Valentine cards, had to give a card to everyone in the class. We did similar with paper bags for collecting the cards. Such fun your making of a post office! Goodness, those school things seems sooo looong ago... LOL! I like Valentine's Day, though I don't send as my cards as I used to, or should... ;) TJ & I to celebrate, but usually not with cards/flowers/gifts, but with food & drink! Much LOVE to you, my friend ((HUGS))
