The Tea Party
I had a little tea party
This afternoon at three.
'Twas very small-
Three guests in all-
Just I, myself and me.
Myself ate all the sandwiches,
While I drank up the tea;
'Twas also I who ate the pie
And passed the cake to me.

Oh, that is my favorite Monday tea quote so far, Marilyn. I must write that one down. So delightful.
ReplyDeleteHave a pleasant week.

Great! You had a poetic tea time. Your post reminded me: Li Bai, a Chinese poet in the 8th century, wrote a poem about drinking with the moon and him.
ReplyDeleteI used to read that poem to my children. So sweet. Tea alone can be a lovely thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little 'tea poem' - makes me want to pop downstairs right now and put the kettle on - it is almost 3 PM here! No cake around (trying to knock off a few lbs!) but I could could have a cookie perhaps.

ReplyDeleteI had never heard it before.
Such a pretty photo x
Beautiful photo, Marilyn, and your "guests" are perfect company!
ReplyDeleteI always love reading this quote! I find it nearly impossible to read without a smile!
