"Another novelty is the tea-party,
an extraordinary meal in that,
being offered to persons that have
already dined well, it supposes
neither appetite nor thirst, and
has no object but distraction,
no basis but delicate enjoyment."
~ Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin. The Physiology of Taste.
May you have moments of "delicate enjoyment" with
a cup of tea and a sweet this holiday season.
What would be in your cup?
And on your plate?
Oh, I hope so. In my cup, something peppermint. On my plate? Loads of lovely cookies!
ReplyDeleteIn my cup right now.. Harney's "White Christmas" tea, and on my plate, a yummy molasses cookie..the flavors of Christmas....
ReplyDeleteIn my cup, something minty (although I'm having an oolong at the moment), and on my plate, something chocolate (I've been very good and have not indulged in a long, long while). I love the thought of no object but distraction, no basis but delicate enjoyment." Ahhh!
ReplyDeleteEnglish breakfast tea and a sugar cookie.....or two. ; )

In my cup is a new honey oolong I discovered at the Tea Festival and it's accompanied with a cranberry cake I made last night. I love all the different flavors of the season.
ReplyDeleteNothing in my cup at the moment but I have been enjoying peppermint tea and a Stash White Christmas blend. It was so good to see Deepwood again. You know it's a favorite of mine and I haven't been there for a long time. Time to return soon.
