The Song of the Crocus Fairies
Crocus of yellow, new and gay;
Mauve and purple, in brave array;
Crocus white
Like a cup of light,-
Hundreds of them are smiling up,
Each with a flame in its shining cup,
By the touch of the warm and welcome sun
Opened suddenly. Spring's begun!
Dance then, fairies, for joy, and sing
The song of the coming again of Spring.
from The Complete Book of the Flower Fairies
by Cicely Mary Barker
I love seeing the crocus as a welcome to Spring,
such a sign of hope.
Happy Spring!!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see some flowers peeking out from the earth. We're still having snow in Eastern Quebec.
I lost all my comments and a lot of followers, when Google+ quit.
Take care, Thelma..
Pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOooo... LOVE that photo! And LOVE the Flower Fairy books!! The few crocus we have are about done now. We used to have more, but they have faded out, so perhaps this autumn will be ordering of some new bulbs. Happy week soaking up the springtime, Marilyn! ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI like this quote today, Marilyn, cause it mentions the color Purple in it, and it's such a beautiful color, isn't it? And it also mentions fairies, which are so delightful. Wishing you a fairy lovely day, Marilyn. : )

Are these the crocuses you have planted in your yard? They're so lovely. Such a pretty purple. I bought some that are indoors now but I'll plant them in the garden later. Lovely -- every bit of this!
