Celebrating Memorial Day!
A day to remember.
With slow and reverend tread,
I bring the roses red
To deck the soldier's bed
Emblem of blood they shed,
For this our native land.
And I, white daisies bring
A simple offering,
Emblems of holy peace.
Oh, may its reign ne'er cease
In this our happy land...

Beautiful red, white, and blue, Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteThat blue flower is striking and so pretty. Have never seen one quite like it before. : )

What a beautiful deep red the top flower is - a rose? a peony? Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteLOVELY read, white and blue theme for the day, Marilyn... and loving words of tribute... ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty flowers each striking and beautiful in their own way.
ReplyDeleteI love the term Decoration Day even more than Memorial. Indeed, it reminds people of the decorating of the graves, something that I love. Beautiful blooms and a perfect poem here!
