Saturday was a glorious spring day in Portland.
We ventured out to Elk Rock, The Garden of the Bishop's Close.
It is a secret garden overlooking the Willamette River, a treasure shared with the public, but
owned by the Episcopal Bishop of Oregon.
The gardens were developed starting in 1914 by Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kerr, a Scot who came to Portland in 1888. It is considered one of the great gardens of the Northwest.
It has been managed by a Garden Committee since 1986.
In the spring the lawn is covered with crocus and I wanted to
take their picture in all their glory. It was not to be,
in the top picture you will see the only crocus left after an early spring blooming.
But the sunshine was so wonderful that we wandered the gardens
and found much to enjoy.
Click on the collage to see the details of the flowers.
Did you notice my pink shoes in the center picture?
I wore them just for you and celebrating spring.

Looking at your pictures I am feeling like spring is possible, which is such a gift right now in March in New England! Thank you for the little crocus, the pink shoes and the hope of spring!
wow....you have spring !
we still have snow and chilly breezes, but I did see some buds on the trees at the cottage :)
We are still awaiting Spring, so your photos are so very welcome.
I enjoy walking around places like this too.
Looks like a lovely place to visit. I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful blooms. I've been wanting a pair of pink shoes - so pretty.
I was hoping to get my translater tool to work - but no luck, so I guess I'll delete the Asia comment too.
Oh, I dig those pink shoes! I have a lavender pair. Wait...does that sound like an old lady?
I've not heard of those gardens. I like the one that is a Catholic sanctuary, seems like it is The Grotto. Portland just has the most incredible gardens.
Beautiful gardens make us wish for spring. Your flowers are lovely!
Love the pink shoes!! :)
Rip Squeak is so cute...thanks for sharing him!

Are these flowers already blooming in your neck of the woods??! If so...wow! And you lucky girl! We still have snow here on the east coast...and they are calling for even more this week. Ah well... Thank you for the early peak into Spring!
Look at all that's in bloom there! Be still my heart...*sigh*... :o) ((HUGS))
