Christmas Lily

Last week, as a gift to myself, I bought one branch of white lilies.
There were seven buds on the one branch.
What a treat of both beauty and fragrance to celebrate
the season watching each bud open.
The JOY I have received from this one branch has been delightful.
It often is the small things that bring us so much pleasure.
What small things are you noticing this season that are bringing you JOY?

  1. There have been lots of opportunities to give in my community this year (people out of work, a family displaced by a fire, etc.), and as I have taken advantage of some of them I am just truly filled with joy that I have been blessed and am able to help a few others. The joy of giving beats any "gift" I could ever receive!

  2. Gorgeous lilies.
I attended the concert by the Masterworks Chorale and the Philharmonic. It was exceptional...I must also admit that my daughter had two solos. I am always amazed by her voice and extremely proud of her!

  5. Seven buds on one branch of lilies is impressive. You captured them beautifully here. These look like they may be the super-fragrant 'Casablanca' variety. Be careful of those stamens they can stain your tablecloth. Believe it or not, they sell special lily tweezers at the flower mart to pinch off the anthers.

I hope you are having a Merry Christmas Day!

  7. Your photo is gorgeous. White lilies are such an elegant flower.

I'm curious to hear what word you picked for 2011. I'm leaning toward PEACE.
