I hadn't been caroling in many years.
I also hadn't waded through the crowds at Portland's Peacock Lane.
But last weekend I did both.
What fun it was!
The houses in the two blocks were decorated beautifully.

ReplyDeleteMerry christmas to you!
Thanks for taking me back to Peacock Lane - I haven't been there for several years! One year when our children were young we waited forever in a long line of cars to see the spectacular Christmas beauty there. Just before we turned the corner onto Peacock Lane our daughter fell asleep - and try as we may, we couldn't wake her enough to see what she had waited so long to see! A few blocks after we left, she woke and asked when we were going to get there! Such good memories - it's always a wonderful part of Portland's Christmas season.

As a child and teen I would go Christmas caroling every December. It was always so much fun to go with my friends and then come back to school, church, or home for hot chocolate and cookies. Great memories!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your pictures and sharing of caroling and Peacock Lane! Lovely!

i have never been caroling, but one year my landlord & his daughter arranged for carolers as a gift for my late neighbor & i. they showed up at the front door and sang away in the cold christmas air, and it was pretty wonderful.
