Road Less Traveled

From Horses at Midnight Without a Moon by Jack Gilbert
Our heart wanders lost in the dark woods.
Our dream wrestles in the castle of doubt.
But there's music in us. Hope is pushed down
but the angel flies up again taking us with her.
The summer mornings begin inch by inch
while we sleep, and walk with us later
as long-legged beauty through
the dirty streets. It is no surprise
that danger and suffering surround us.
What astonishes is the singing.

This morning this quote was sitting in my inbox
and that last line particularly struck my heart.
Even though we wander and struggle some days,
"What astonishes is the singing".
I do hope you are hearing that singing today.

Thank-you Marilyn, there was singing today, even amid the turmoil.

LOVE the image and these dazzling words that give so much food for thought, Marilyn! What a difference a day can make. Yesterday was not so great. But today is a real singing day in the form of good news, new ideas, art, sunshine outside and more. May the beautiful songs keep playing for us all! :o) ((HUGS))
