Found recently at the antique mall for $6.
The best price I have found online was $7.95 and up.
On the bottom of the tin it says:
"GOLD MEDAL QUALITY LIPTON'S TEA"
"Acknowledged throughout the world as the most delicious
obtainable. At the great Tea Expositions in Ceylon and
India, Lipton's Tea, grown on Sir Thomas Lipton's Estates,
was awarded the First Prize and Gold Medal as the -
Choicest Tea produced."
From what research I can find, this tin was from around the 1950's
and was used for advertising.
One use I found was to turn it into a paint box for art supplies.
I kind of like the traveling tea party with teabags and chocolate.
What do you think?
Do you collect tea tins?
I don't collect (smiling), but I can't toss them away.
This is the first I have purchased.

ReplyDeleteI would love one to keep secrets in :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I know you will find the perfect use for this tea tin.
ReplyDeleteLipton is a stable are our home. My hubby won't touch "my teas" Your Lipton tin is a fun find. I used to have a Celestial Seasoning tin I wore out bringing teabags and sugar packets to work for mini tea breaks. I never thought to add a piece of chocolate. Divine idea, Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThese are awfully pretty -- and yes, so many uses! I have a few tins -- some tea, cracker, cookie. And I love them!
ReplyDeleteYes, I collected a few tea tins a while ago. I keep them in our Italian house and store some of my favourite tea brought over from the UK in one of them which is a commemorative Royal occasion one for Elizabeth II's 25th wedding anniversary.
ReplyDeleteYour Lipton's tin is a great find.
What a fun find! That's one thing I've not come across, is a tea tin. I do have an old Campbell's Souper Recipe tin, that I bought at a flea market in PA, and which I keep tea in! :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Such a perfect size for using for all sorts of things --- like baby Q-tips, diaper pins, and baby aspirin. ;P
ReplyDeleteI think that was a great find, and I love what you have done with it!
