The Practice of Contemplative Photography by Andy Karr and Michael Wood
is the book I am reading right now.
The first assignment is to take a walk and look for color.
Not just any color, not in nature, graffiti, signs, or numbers.
Off I went on a wet, drippy colorless day to look for color.
It was a bit of a challenge, but I really enjoy a challenge.
This is the best of the colors I found.
Better than finding the color was finding JOY in the search.
Smiling at the colors on a winter day just makes my heart sing.
Take time to find the color of life on a cold winter day.

How lovely Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteTaking advice from the professionals certainly worked!
I'll see if I can order it from my library!
I take my camera everywhere (almost!) but I just snap away at random - I'll see how I get on with a 'focus'!!

You found so many beautiful, colorful items to photograph. The book sounds very interesting. Color really does help perk up a grey day!
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds good and an interesting way of approaching photography and, of course, bringing pleasure and joy with the resulting captures of what we see around us.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Marilyn!
You colour my world with love.
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet friend.
Love you
Jeanne
Perfect post... as I thought of you today... was in the grocery store, and a woman had a small cart with a red purse, red cherry tomatoes, and red peppers. I wanted to snap a picture of it... it was a perfect composition of color - red!
ReplyDeleteMarilyn I'd have to say you passed the assignment with "flying colors" !
ReplyDeleteReally though, I need to check out this book. Would love to improve on my camera skills, I think you're off to a great start.
Sounds like fun...oh boy I am such a colour girl it is not even funny! Joy = Colour.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
I often do colour walks.
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very interesting. I might look for it......or I might continue to develop my own walks :-)
I'd give you an A!
ReplyDeleteSome great finds ... and a fun assignment.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn, one of the best places I find color is in ethnic grocery stores or candle areas in stores in general. I found lots of Mexican candles at Target yesterday. I'll be posting them soon.
ReplyDeleteSuch FUN photos, Marilyn! I read that book last summer/autumn and it really added to my perspective on taking photos, so I feel I approach taking photos differently. Look forward to seeing more of you "assignments". Happy Week ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine you could have done much better than this on your color search, unless you stumbled upon a crayon factory!
ReplyDeleteThese are such fun -- I love all that color! Very nice!
