Growing up in the sunshine I am called to run and play when the sun comes out.
Yesterday was such a day and I knew just where I needed to go.
Sauvie Island, not far from Portland, is along the Willamette River.
There is a historic apple orchard there that reminds me of the
times I played, danced, laughed, and skipped in amongst the apple trees as a girl in California.
The softness of the ground covered with grass, little daisies, and dandelions was a delight to walk through.
But oh did my heart sing with the blush of the pink on the beautiful white blossoms.
There are varieties of apples here no longer found in the market.
What JOY and DELIGHT my heart felt at spending time here with my camera,
my heart, and the sun. It is a healing place, a place that just sings to me.
Is there someplace that you go to for healing and DELIGHT?

I wish I were there, so rainy and cold here. I'll take the sun and the blossoms any day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place for retreat, Marilyn. I love the blossoms on ground and tree!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite retreat will depend upon the season. In the winter and early spring, I enjoy places along the rivers nearby. The shrub-steppe has such charm and I have learned to love it very much. In the summer and autumn, our meadow on the mountain never, ever fails to bring healing and respite.
Such refreshing views of spring while we still wait here. I grew up in Washington State near the Columbia River so these sights remind me of those happy days.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful that you got to play there!
ReplyDeleteI go to the lake, which combines healing and delight into one thing. This is a lovely spot-- glad you got to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI love the place where you went yesterday. We were at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival - a wonderful place to enjoy the sun and the beauty of flowers all around us! My place is to is the beach.

That looks like a lovely place to relax. Your photo collage is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collage of blue skies and apple orchards! It is fun to play in the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteI guess the ocean will always be that place for me! I never feel quite as lighthearted as when I'm walking along the beach, following the seagulls and collecting shells. Isn't it great how nature truly ministers (for lack of a better word) to all of us?
