Often when walking in my neighborhood I have peered into the windows of DOC.
I have been fascinated by the canning jars filled with all sorts of goodies.
I reminded me of a quiet street in France,
a place to sit for the evening
sipping something wonderful in your cup and eating delicious fresh food.
As part of our anniversary celebration my husband took me here last weekend.
What a treat and one I will look forward to repeating for a special occasion.
We started with delicious bread and olives and ended with panna cotta
with crumbles of chocolate coffee cookies.
Stepping in the door you walk through the kitchen to arrive at your table.
As we sat with anticipation, we could watch as our food was prepared.
The second picture was taken of the chefs from our table.
They serve locally grown food in creative ways,
to delight the eye as well as the palate.
If you live in the Portland area, this one is definitely worth a visit.
Do you love visiting somewhere new for you, a place that delights?
If so, where have you visited or where would you like to visit?
It is fun when you find someplace to delight and then get to partake.
It is like a dream come true.
May dreams come true in little ways and in big times too.

This is so much like the little restaurant in our downtown, called Kate's. I discovered her a month ago, and it's a new favorite spot. The food is also prepared in view, and all the food is home made, from soups to breads and desserts. All the ingredients and produce come from local markets. and the food is amazing! I need to do a post on it sometime. I love local!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteDOC looks like a lovely place. I'm sure you had a relaxing evening. I love those sort of places where local produce is prepared in view as you sit and sip your drink. I'm looking forward to finding a new place to lunch tomorrow out in the countryside.
ReplyDeleteI love places like you've described. Local, handmade, yummy food! And being able to feel a part of the kitchen would be a special treat!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
This does sound like a special place, Marilyn. It is so much fun to find a new place that you like, especially on your anniversary.
ReplyDeleteThis one looks like my kind of place.....but any restaurant you suggest for our visit will be great - it's the company more than the food of course!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSee you soon, Mary X
My list for one day visiting Portland is getting longer and longer! This is SO my kind of spot. What a treat -- and I love your never-ending anniversary! It is just the best!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a neat place! I love that you got to actually walk through the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteWe are always exploring new places in this country. That looks like a charming one; reminds me of a similar little gem in Savannah.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a place I would love to visit! I enjoy watching others cook!
