Tea Time in the Country

Impromptu tea parties in the country are a delight.
On occasion I pack up a picnic tea and off on country roads I go.
When I found these vintage pickups full of flowers I knew it was tea time.
Hot water in my grandpa's thermos, my cup and saucer, a teapot, and tea to brew.
My tea party was for me, myself, and I.
In the basket was a cookie treat to go with the tea.
What a wonderful time I had sitting on the running board of the yellow pickup sipping tea
and nibbling on a favorite cookie.

If you took yourself to tea what would be in your basket?
What tea would you take?

Happy weekend, dear friends!
May you find country roads and delights to sing in your heart.

  2. I'd probably have some luscious shortbread cookies, and some earl gray tea, with milk and sugar.

You picked a lovely spot for your tea.

  4. Hi Marilyn! This is my first time to your blog.

I try to see the Lord in everyday things, and so I love the theme of your blog! It's much the same.

Tea? Some kind of fruit tea, I think. Maybe raspberry. and cookies? Just about anything! I love sweets :)

    Have a good weekend!

  6. A perfect spot to take tea Marilyn - wish I had been with you!
Pick-up trucks - turned garden - quite magical, aren't people clever.
I can definitely see future Note Cards here!!!!

My tea of choice would be Twinings "Lady Grey".
Though once summer arrives I often opt for a fruit tea in the afternoons.
Recently I bought a packet of what I thought was a New Zealand tea by Healtheries called "Central Otago Apricot with Passionfruit".
When I read the blurb on the underside of the carton it said "Blended in Germany from imported and local ingredients". Who would have thought!

Enjoy your weekend - I hope you're enjoying your late summer days before Autumn arrives.
Tomorrow is officially the first day of Spring for us!

  7. What great pictures of those old trucks! Of course, the yellow one is my favorite!

I would have herbal or green tea, still can't drink the black :-(

Thanks for the nice comment about our new floors. We are loving them!

  10. These vintage trucks are simply delightful! What a perfect little tea spot! Such fun! My tea basket would contain something with lots and lots of icing. My sweet tooth is never satiated.

  13. Ohhhh, look at those old trucks!!! Had to show them to my husband, who loves old cars/trucks.

In a way, it's sad to see them like this, never to be restored. But it's also cute to see them used, in this delightful way.

  14. A tea picnic--LOVE that! And love these images today, Marilyn! There's been a dip in the temps that past few days, and today is only 56F so far... So a black, robust tea sounds appealing--Harney & Sons Kenilworth Garden Ceylon, I'm thinking. Some soup in a thermos too--with chunky veggies. A crust of good bread, a hunk of cheese. Can't forget the sweet... Maybe a choc chip & butterscotch chip cookie or two. ;o) Oh, I'm hungry now! This was fun! Happy Week, Marilyn ((HUGS))

  19. If I took myself to tea what would I have? Earl Gray tea, chicken salad sandwiches cut into cute little shapes shapes, tomato and cheese tartlets, scones with clotted cream and lemon curd, and raspberries. Or blueberries. Or blackberries. Or....
    :-)
