You danced for me.
Your colors delighted me.
You twirled.
You spoke to me in the flutter of your voice.
You sang in the softness of a crisp Autumn day.
Autumn you enchanted.
In the crispness of a cold walk down the road my heart sang.
I sang your song with rosy cheeks
and puffs of breathe filled the air.
Autumn, so full of leaves and one last song
before we sleep in the winter and
sip tea by the fire.
One last hurrah before we curl into a quilt,
my walk in the Autumn days.
Happy weekend, dear friends!

Beautiful words! I feel the same about Autumn leaves. I love to hear the crunch under my feet and I love to see their beauty. And then they are gone!

Lovely words to celebrate autumn leaves and color. Have a fabulous Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite things about Fall is the golden leaves that carpet our driveway from the tree next door. They pile up, turn crisp, and I dance and stomp on them. With the rain though, they are a soggy mess. The wind will lift them away soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the leaves....There is something about autumn that pulls me...the colors of the leaves, the breeze in my face and the thought of coziness by a roaring fire.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn dearest YOU really need to consider publishing your poetry.........each one is better than the last! This one I truly enjoyed and have re-read several times..........and of course you know I would love taking those autumnal walks by your side through your neighborhood - what fun we'd have. Then, later, discussing the beauty we saw along the way over a cup of your delicious tea. Tell Jim I may suddenly appear on the doorstep, enticed by your poems, LOL!
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely, lovely.

You twirled..............
There's such movement in your words, or should I say twirling!
I loved it.
Happy weekend to you too!
Hugs

Your poem is delightful. I would love to take a walk with you and sip tea by the fire afterwards. It would be invigorating to be out and about and then comfortingly cosy indoors. Have a lovely weekend, Marilyn!
ReplyDeleteA perfect poem, beautifully illustrated. I will miss autumn. Yesterday we got a hint of the cold of winter. Today is to be worse. I miss it already!

Yes, one last dance among the leaves... they're gone here too, and it's been very frosty, temps dipping past freezing. I think we've seen the last of autumn. We had the fireplace going this weekend :o) Happy Week, Marilyn ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Marilyn. I enjoyed the leaves so much this fall, but they are all gone now. No more raking.
ReplyDeleteGlad you've enjoyed such a lovely autumn - nicely described!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely homage to autumn leaves!
