In the early morning hour today as I lay in bed my word Grateful
came to mind and the words to the following Johnny Appleseed song popped into my heart.
"Oh, the Lord's been good to me.
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need:
The sun, the rain and the apple seed;
Oh, the Lord's been good to me."
I am not sure of the author, but the words are repeated often at our dinner table.
Already I am feeling the power of my new word
and excited for the journey.
I have missed you all here as I have been recuperating from surgery a week ago.
I can feel your presence with me and the encouragement to become strong again.
Five straight hours of sleep was a real gift this night and I am so Grateful for it.
Now looking forward to resuming my ritual of drinking tea with you
and sharing in the Delights of the Heart.
Couldn't help slipping in one more Christmas photo taken at
the Old Church in Portland at the traditional Christmas concert.
Happy Monday to you all, you have been missed!

I am glad to hear that you are on the 'other' side of your surgery - and that sleep was a blessing again. Gratitude is something that helps in the process of healing or facing everyday life. The words of that song made me smile - so true! I'm glad you are 'back' again, too, my friend.

So grateful you are beginning to get some real sleep. Keep hanging in there, Marilyn! We're all on your side.
ReplyDeleteDear friend, I've had you on my mind daily - even this morning I mentioned to Bob that I hoped you were doing much better by now. Lovely to see your post here. Reading your positive words, along with sunshine outside the window, has made this start of another week most pleasant.
ReplyDeleteKeep getting better dear Marilyn -
Our love and best wishes as always.

I am happy to see you blogging just one week after surgery. Johnny Appleseed was our favorite blessing to sing with my Girl Scout and Brownie troops during the many years I was a troop leader for both daughters.
ReplyDeleteHope you recover quickly! I am trying to keep gratefulness in mind, too!
ReplyDeleteYes, may you heal quickly! Let me know when you are feeling up for a tea outing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting better Marilyn. I hope you were able to watch Downton Abbey, it's a treat to have it back for viewing.
ReplyDeleteYou have been missed too, and I hope your recuperation is going well!
ReplyDeleteSo glad the surgery is behind you. Sleep is a wonderful gift, isn't it? Hope you are feeling much better every day.
ReplyDeleteHeal well my lovely friend.
ReplyDeleteMuch love and many blessings this year and always
Love Jeanne
