A Gift for You - A Flower and A Poem

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do no labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." Matthew 6:28-29

"Be strong and very courageous." Joshua 1:7

The flowers I have posted are not lilies, but still they shine each spring in the fields. Peonies in all their glory.  And the quotes may not be judged as poetry, but so much of scripture I believe is indeed poetry.

This morning as I watched the committal service for Queen Elizabeth the above scriptures were brought to mind by the words shared as she was laid to rest. She was indeed strong and courageous.  She has done her job well. Rest, dear Queen. We will remember the Queen of Hearts.

Sending love,

Marilyn

I've always loved the Matthew verse. And that peony - what a striking color! I heard they are from the Rose family, but not sure about that? A perfect flower for her, as I read she wore bright colors in her wardrobe throughout her life. ; )

Nice verse and peony. I have white and pink. That's a pretty red.
I watched the Queen's funeral today. Sad to see her go but her work on earth is done. She deserves a rest.

I think the aim should be to look like a flower, though! Haha! I love a big flowing dress that reminds me of being a flower fairy!

I like these better than lilies. I watched all day -- more than once. I couldn't tear away.

It's amazing to see hundreds of peonies growing in a field. The only place I've seen them growing like that is in the kitchen garden in the grounds of Chatsworth House. Much of scripture is poetic. I like many of the Psalms for that reason.

I watched for much of the day on Monday, too. Farewell, Your Majesty. You've done well.
