Walk in my Friend's Garden

 This week I was headed over the river to have lunch with a friend. She said come early so you can walk in my garden and see my irises. I love seeing irises in gardens. I am not fond of the fragrance, but aren't they beautiful in a garden. Walking in a friends garden and seeing the joy they bring her, brought joy to my heart.

"Nothing but heaven itself is better than a friend who is really a friend."

"And Pooh said to Piglet "Life is so much friendlier with two."

I have a fondness for California poppies since at heart I am still that California girl.

"A friend is a gift you give yourself."

"Friendship is Love, without his wings."

"One of the most delightful things about gardening is the freemasonry it gives with other gardeners, and the interest and pleasure all gardeners get by visiting other people's gardens. We all have a lot to learn and in every new garden there is a chance of finding inspiration - new flowers, different arrangement or fresh treatment for old subjects. Even if it is a garden you know by heart there are twelve months in the year and every month means a different garden, and the discovery of things unexpected all the rest of the year."
-  Margery Fish, We Made a Garden, 1956

"But friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine."    -  Thomas Jefferson

The petals of an iris remind me of butterfly wings.

Reason, Season, Lifetime Poem
by Brian A. “Drew” Chalker

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

This friend has come into my life during Covid times, yet we have been able to connect in the heart.

Yes, friends sometimes do come for a lifetime and some most definitely for a season.

Have a terrific weekend, dear friends!

What a beautiful variety of irises your friend has in her garden. How lovely of her to invite you to see them. Connection with others comes in many ways and a shared love of beauty is definitely one of them.
Have a good weekend, Marilyn.

Oh my! I adore irises. I always think of my late Aunt Iris when I see them -- and she was very sentimental of her name and the bloom. Your friend has a glorious selection and I'm so glad you were able to spend time together and see them. I love that you have a friend that came into your life during Covid times -- it seems like we lost so many people then -- but you found one.

Your friend's garden is very nice, Marilyn. I never cared for Iris', but the light peach ones are so pretty. And of course, I love our state flower. I see the orange poppies at the creek every Spring. Yes, I do believe people come into our lives for a reason. Some are here to stay, and others for just a short while.

Have a nice Memorial Day weekend, Marilyn.
