Last Friday a friend and I ventured to Yacolt, Washington for one last afternoon tea at the Pomeroy House before the tearoom closed. The tearoom is in the upstairs room of the barn building with a gift shop below. It was one of the best British style gifts shops and tearooms in the area. The log house to the left will continue to have special event teas several times a year, but there will no longer be the regular afternoon teas and gift shop.

It is a simple afternoon tea, as you see here. I don't even remember what everything was, except the tomato ginger soup was very good. Each person also has their own teapot full of tea.
The scones are light and fluffy. You can ask for as many scones as you want.*********
Eventhough afternoon tea at the Pomeroy House was simple, it was one of my favorites.

It is so sad when a tea room closes. I wonder if it didn't have enough business or if the owner just grew weary of it. At least it will be open for special occasions.
Alice, I guess I should have said why it was closing. Pomeroy House is part of the Pomeroy Living History Museum, which is a family run farm and business on a historic farm. The elder couple ran the tearoom and gift shop for many years, but are near 80 years old and felt they just couldn't do it any longer. The younger family members are more involved in other farm events.
Here's a cheer for this tearoom, and may they enjoy their retirement! And I'm glad there will be special events!
