Mentor

men·tor
  1. A wise and trusted counselor or teacher.

  2. Mentor Greek Mythology Odysseus's trusted counselor, in whose guise Athena became the guardian and teacher of Telemachus.

The hands you see are my Aunt Arlene's.
They look very much like my mother's hands.
She has been my life mentor in many ways.
In watching her live life I learned to love
flowers, music, and making my nest more beautiful.
She will be 90 years old in May and
still I learn from her. I learn
how to live at 90 years old and still
laugh, do, and love; but at a different speed.

There can be mentors for life or even a mentor
on the job. Mentors come in different forms, sometimes
for life and sometimes for just a short time.
They may not be chosen, but in the
circumstances of life they choose you.

Have you had a mentor?
Is there someone that has taught you to laugh
and love?

Thanks so much for your post. Not only reminding us to be grateful for our mentors .... but to step up and BECOME mentors by living our lives out loud and transparent.
Hugs and have a super week!

How fortunate to have a mentor! In many ways my dear mother has been my mentor but there have been a number of other women who have had a big mentoring role in my life. My dear aunt is the one who first comes to mind. She has a precious place in my heart. Love the photo of your aunt's hands. ~Adrienne~

Marilyn darling, what a precious post. Your description of Aunt Arlene reminds me of my Aunt Rose. I learned so much from her and most importantly she was my rock, such a strong woman. Thank you darling for this mesmerizing post… what a delight to wake up to and thanks for bringing back sweet memories for me.

Love & Hugs

Such a beautiful photo of your aunt's hands. I can well imagine how they held you up and protected you all these years - I hope she lives an even longer life as she must be special.

My mentors were several - my grandma when I was a child as we were especially close; my mother - probably moreso after I left home and moved to the US so there was some distance but still a ton of love and caring until she dies at age 91; my friend who has just lost her husband because I can share anything of my life with her, the good, bad and ugly, and she will always be there for me.....so I've never need a shrink, lol!!
