A passage from The Elegance of the Hedgehog
by Muriel Barbery
Moments like this act as magical interludes, placing our hearts at the edge of our souls: fleetingly, yet intensely, a fragment of eternity has come to enrich time. Elsewhere the world may be blustering or sleeping, wars are fought, people live and die, some nations disintegrate, while others are born, soon to be swallowed up in turn--and in all this sound and fury, amidst eruptions and undertows, while the world goes its merry way, bursts into flames, tears itself apart and is reborn: human life continues to throb.
So, let us drink a cup of tea.

I am enjoying a cup of tea now. We are getting dumped on with snow. Our senior lunch was cancelled today...so we are in for the entire weekend. I enjoyed all the tea that you sent!
That about sums up life to me. The world continues to spin and wars continue to be fought. Marriages break up and nuptials are held. Babies are born and old folks are buried. But still, life goes on. And whether we drink tea or coffee, it comes time to sit down and have some.

"The Elegance of the Hedgehog" was a book that ripped at me. I have a hard time forgetting it. But yes, a cup of tea would soothe us all today.
I've never read that before - very thought provoking. The tea and meal in the photo look great.

Timely sentiments! Thank you for them and the lovely photo.
There is power in tea...in sharing, in sipping, savouring and enjoying. It calms and soothes and allows us to converse...I can't imagine my life without tea.
And I loved Muriel Barbery's "The Elegance of the Hedgehog"!
"So, let us drink a cup of tea" that is truly the bottom line!! For me a cup of tea is the remedy for most everything - happiness or anger, or other emotions!
Nice reading!

I grew up in England where tea is considered the cure for all that ails us!
