Easter Eggs

Happy Easter and Passover!

Do you dye eggs for your celebration?
My eggs this year are dyed with different teabags.
I love the natural look.
In each cup I made a strong cup of tea and
added a hard boiled egg.
Then I just left it for most of the day.
When I removed the eggs from the tea this is what I saw.
The soft colors came from herbal and green teas.
The darker brown colors came from black tea.
You could do the same thing with different flowers or onion skins too.
Just steep them in boiling water, then add the eggs.
Enjoy!

May your day of celebration be full of JOY!

Marilyn, I found your blog by chance, but am so glad I did. Your eggs are lovely. Have you tried to use red onion skin of a spinach extract for additional colors? I live not far from you in Oregon. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary

Marilyn darling this brings back so many good memories, my grandma use to dye them with loose tea. You just gave me an idea, I think I will do a basket of these gorgeous eggs. Luv, popped in to wish you and your family a joyous and blessed Easter.

Your tea eggs are so lovely, Marilyn... love all the variations of sepia tones... My grandmother, father's mother, always used to do the one skins dye. I remember liking them as a child, they were such a great contrast to the highly-colored eggs everywhere else. Wishing you blessings & beauty this Easter holiday! :o) ((HUGS))

Hi Marilyn!
Lovely eggs...it reminded me of a time as a child that I did it with my Grams. We also boiled up beets and used the liquid to soak the eggs in while Grams made a batch of pickled beets. She was such a mulit-tasker.
Have a very Happy Easter Marilyn...and your family too, of course!

Marilyn, I love those eggs! When I was growing up, my grandmother would dye eggs in onion skins! That's how they did it in the 'old country'. Enjoy this wonderful season!

Your tea dyed eggs look great and that dish is so pretty. I've tried beet juice and onion skins, but never thought to try tea. Thanks for the idea.

I really admire your fresh take on dying eggs for Easter! How creative :) My kiddos seem to be into tradition and its refreshing to know they have a memory for what we do now... so pastels it is :)

Happy Easter to you :)

Would that I would have thought to die eggs! My daughter called this morning (Easter) and said our little granddaughter couldn't wait to come to our house because the Easter bunny hatched eggs all over our yard, she just knew it! We ran to the store, got those plastic eggs and filled them with a little candy. When she came, she had little eggs hidden everywhere to greet her walking up the path. By the way, she is not spoiled one bit!
