Welcome to Emma Wagner Giesy's front porch.
Emma, "was the only woman sent to the Oregon Territory in the 1850s
to help found a communal society."
Her home is now part of the Old Aurora Colony Museum.
I have always fallen in love with old porches and when
I saw this porch I knew I wanted to photograph it.
I have seen so many beautiful pictures of porches in magazines and online;
so my challenge was to have some beautiful flowers and of course tea while sitting
on Emma's porch.
I had a wonderful time yesterday taking pictures here and
send thanks to the Old Aurora Colony Museum for allowing
me to photograph Emma's porch.

Love the porch and picket fence and, although the roses are perfect, just look at the Japanese Anemones peeping over the fence! My mother's garden in England was always full of these - she always said they 'walked everywhere'. Have grown them here a few times but sadly they soon die in the heat and humidity.

I'm with you Marilyn, I love porches especially ones like this. Someday I hope to have a proper porch, to sit and enjoy my morning tea or cocoa. Until then, I'll add them to my Pinterest!

What beautiful place... and such a welcoming porch! I love porches. I miss porches... we don't have quite the same porch concept over here, so these make me think of home. ;o) I would love to sit on that porch and drink tea...*sigh*... That porch is wonderful and your pictures are incredible. I hope the museum is delighted. They sure should be. Maybe we can add that to our to do list when I finally get home again. That first picture looks like it was ripped from the pages of Victoria magazine.
